Any idea how old and what this buckle was used for? Found in arkansas, found in the woods near a field

Looks like one of the many buckles that were/are used on horse tack. The same design is pretty much still in use today so I'd say it's most likely from first half of the 20th c.

I agree with Erik. I find many of those too...
