The black three ringer was dug in blue clay, that's why it's darker. It's actually the color of lead when you buy it new.

Not sure what the material possibly copper alloy or bronze. Could this be part of a Musket? Ram rod clip or scope?

Yes Paleo, I think your on it. It does look like the top of a skeleton key.
