Belongs to a friend. He was told it was from War of 1812. I couldn't find any kind of marking on the blade. Any ideas if its real or the age?

Being there are no markings on it, it's hard to say if it's pre or post War of 1812 made. There were swords of that style with the straight blade used. But they were also made afterwards. I can't find a specific model number for it.

If no one here can ID it here try the US Militaria Forum.
