this evening i got out for for just a little more than an hour. it was too hot to go out earlier. i headed to the old house foundation and field nearby and found nothing but trash (old trash, maybe, but still trash). but the funniest thing happened before i got there. my husband, who kindly was taking me over the mountain trails on a Polaris Ranger, was unloading it by a dump behind a local farm. and i do mean DUMP! i was patiently waiting and looking at the variety of things in this trash heap- shopping carts, old tractor parts, computer printers, etc, thinking "what a mess!' anyway, while looking around at my feet at an unusual looking rock, a disc-shaped object caught my eye, sort of reddish. i thought, there's no way thats a coin here! i stooped to pick it up, and saw it was a buffalo nickel! I yelled, of course, to my husband, daughter, and her friend,"i just found a Buffalo nickel!!" it was so funny, i just laughed and laughed and said "i can't belive it" at least a dozen times. my daughter's friend took it and said, "here, its 1915!" honestly, it was not even very dirty, just laying on top of the ground, like someone dropped it there today! i have no idea how it got there, and it certainly would be the last place i'd take a metal detector! i'd like you all to see it, so i'll try to add a picture tomorrow (can i do that?). i couldn't get my daughter's camera to focus on it properly and she's in bed. thanks for reading!
