button back i found the other day

this is the back to the larger button....i had to draw the back . it looks like a wreath with a eagle on it . ...i dont want to clean it up anymore ... and theres writing in the wreath i cant make out .. if someone can resize it for me thanks ..........pine

I went through my flat button back marks and came up with a few "eagles" and thought I would add the 3 different marks that I've got.
1. Eagle on top with rows of denticles and an inner design of circles with "TREBLE GILT STANDd COLOUR"
2. Eagle on top with "EXTRA FINE GILT"
3. Eagle in the middle where the shank was and "STANDARD RICH COLOUR"
I know I have a few more kicking around in my books/boxes and will add more to this thread.
I feel it is a great opportunity when someone starts a post like this, if others would post their similar back marks for our study purposes.
I have several varieties of the pattern you have on the front, which seems to be a popular colonial pattern.

The buttons with the smaller eagles of varying types and designs are from no earlier than 1800 and continued for awhile after that, all British manufactured.

I just found another one similar to 1. with a belt design, eagle on top and "TREBLE GILT STANDARD COL."
I agree with Don as the spelling on some of mine are "colour" and the fact that 90% of the buttons I find were of British manufacture. The eagle design makes a plain flat button a little more desirable to look at. I am a fanatic about flat button back marks and thought I would add what I have documented.
