Dug this small sew-through button today. I believe it's pewter which has me interested because I'm looking for 18th century stuff at this site. Does anyone know what a small button like this would be used for? What about age?

Thanks.

for underwear & shirts - not much older than 1900 would be my guess

Never seen a pewter one, so I'm guessing crusty Tombac which I have seen.

Definitely some type of mixed (more modern) metal to come out like that.

Yep sorry it's a modern button. It isn't pewter. Probably aluminum or some mix of metals like IP said
