Button ID help needed

Just got around to cleaning this fragment from last weekend. It definitely has something on it and may be military but its pretty far gone. Found at a site where I have found British Rev War Buttons and US war of 1812 buttons.

Just hoping someone recognizes the partial pattern that is left enough to ID. Thanks for looking.

That was my first thought but I cant find a Script "I" that matches. I thought it might be an "L", there is a British Legion, but the font is a little different. It sure looks like an L though and I found a Royal Provincial button at the same spot, they have been linked. May not be enough left to ever figure it out.

Those Infantry buttons you refer to are pewter. This looks like copper alloy. That being said, I have no idea what it is
