With cabin fever at it's peak and temps in the single digits, I was looking at my finds from the Underground Railroad village. I found this flat button near the other two I posted a few weeks back. I thought this one was too far gone for any ID, until I looked at it under different lighting.

The front was plated or gilted, but nothing remains. It measures 20mm and has an eagle on the back, with olive branches(?)around the bottom edge, and there is writing on top, but I can only make out the letter "P". Maybe PAT (patent)?

ANY BUTTON EXPERTS PLEASE HELP!

Neil, Eagle backmarked buttons are fairly easy to find in our area, I lost count but sure I have a dozen or more, most were made in England to help sell them as being more patriotic in our country to have a plain front button but a nice Eagle on the backside. :)
