BUTTON ID (MILITARY?)

FOUND AT A SITE OF A 1700'S FOUNDATION YESTERDAY IN UP STATE NEW YORK.
I'M NOT VERY GOOD AT IDING BUTTONS SO I THOUGHT YOU COULD HELP ME.
IF THIS IS MILITARY, IT WOULD BE MY FIRST.

Thanks! The photo of the back helped clear things up. Looks like a civilian work clothes button, c. 1900-1930. I don't recognize the brand; however, Barnhart had a fairly similar button with three large, five-pointed stars at the bottom.
