Button ID please

[Woodland Detectors]

This Button was found in NC. It reads "COLOR" twice around the edges and I cant make out what the rest reads. Maybe, someone out there can help us out? Thanks

Well... it's one piece early 1800s button with a "quality mark" not a "back mark". The ? color color marking is akin to the others you have seen that read Standard Color or Triple Orange or Double Gilt... soak it in peroxid and use a toothpick to pluck out the junk... maybe you'll get a good read on that unreadible word.

Are you sure that it says COLOR twice, and not something like RICH GOLD COLOR, a quality mark which appears on c. 1830's-40's gilt buttons?
