Welcome aboard... I think you're going to like it here!

The button that you found is a U.S. Navy pattern, all right, but it dates a little earlier than WWII....

Update: Wrong! This is actually a civilian "blazer" button modeled on a pre-WWII Navy button. Although there are a number of differences which I should have caught, the anchor style is the real giveaway.

Thanks for the info PBK. The back is severely corroded/rusted cannot tell. The loop is still on it. Any suggestions on cleaning?
