Button (Updated)

A friend of mine found this button in florida on a site that was used as a fort in 1562. It is not magnetic. Anyone have any ideas how old it is or any info on it?

Well, the style of shank looks earlier...but I don't think it's a 1500s button... maybe early to mid 1700s though.
