Hello,
I have my Grams old button collection. A few military buttons that I have looked up are from the 1800s, there is a page of black jet buttons, I'm sure some baklite ones are in there and some glass, some hard rubber etc.... I am wondering how I might go about getting this collection appraised or at least some of the more interesting ones identified?

Welcome to TNet from Ohio!

I am not sure about getting it appraised but its super cool that you have your Grams old button collection! As for getting them ID'ed, you could try googling the backmarks, and looking at the general style of the button can give you a rough idea of the date as well. Also, if there are any specific buttons you want ID'ed or are having a hard time with just post on the "What is it?" or "Buttons" forum here on TNet!
There are also button books out there, but they are expensive and hard to come by.

Thank you for your reply! I will make use of the "what is it?" page as so many of them don't have marks on the back. Also maybe someone there can give me tips for trying to identify buttons on my own

Ya know good question on button value. I mean Rev War buttons and certain civil war buttons can be quite rare and carry value. Like anything condition and rarity ( and collector desire) dictate value. Tough to
tell with your collection . Those shown in the larger pictures don’t look like anything wildly special to me . I’ve found hundreds of backmarked buttons and while neat wouldn’t prompt me to spend a nickel
paying an appraiser. Just my two cents.

Please post pictures of the front and back of the military buttons. As far as I can see all the ones in the first picture are fashion buttons.

Sadly enough I know what makes a button "military"!
Do you mean like these? 20200328_134020-picsay.jpg20200328_135200~01.jpg20200328_135207~01~01.jpg20200328_135900~01.jpg20200328_135936~01.jpg20200328_135943~01.jpg
