Buying Gold

I'd like to hear feedback from members about all these companies you see advertising that they buy gold. Good experiences? Bad experiences? If I was to start a business like this, I suppose I could pay any "spot" price I wanted. I would also likely receive many items that would be worth keeping intact and reselling like jewelry with diamonds in them etc. I also imagine that I'd have to have a gold tester and diamond tester. Anyone else think about starting a gold buying business?
