I am buying a used Garrett AT Pro off of Craig's List and picking it up tomorrow from the owner. He said he bought it new 6 months ago and has used it about 4 times . Has not used it near water. Called Garrett and they said it was water proof up to 10 feet, even in salt water. Paying $450.00 and he paid $599.00
Anything I need to look out for?
Thanks in advance

Bring a set a fresh batteries and some targets to test. Assuming you're from the states...Zinc & copper penny, nickel, dime, quarter and maybe a pulltab and a bottle cap.

Check the plugs to makes sure the connectors are tight and in good order. Look for cracks in the coil. Have the coil cover removed if you have to. Also check where the arm cuff is mounted, some ATPs like to break there.

Good luck!

If it does not look and perform like new I would pay the extra $75 or so and get a new one with a full warranty.

Some of the earlier ones were very chatty and also didn't have the cam locks. Follow the other's advice as to what to look for. I don't really care for the ATP myself as it took 3 before I got one that worked like it should. Good luck with it.

Welcome to Tnet..webp

Good news! I am a new owner of the AT Pro. I did as suggested and checked it out and it did have cam locks. Also had his receipt where he purchased it 6 months ago. Tried it out in my front yard and found 7 cents . Better find a yard of some wealthier people.:laughing7:
Thanks to all for your help, had to go to Amazon and buy accessories like the Garrett Pro Pointer? I am a Prime member so it arrived in two days the same day I purchased the detector. Don't know how I could be so successful without the pointer .
Thanks again and good digging!

Thanks for info on camlocks

Great machine. Give it time..

Good price. The at pro even when it's chatty will sound off great on a coin. I was in an iron infested site on Sunday and I couldn't swing a foot without a signal but still pulled out a Indian head cent and it sounded good with all that trash and rust in the ground.

I believe Garretts 2 year warranty is transferable, call garrett to learn how to transfer the warranty.

atpro is not chatty even at high sense its a rock solid machine. Just check gb. Let the iron in to really hear, or "see", whats in the ground. It will talk under power lines, which is a good thing.
