I finally got around to doing an accurate count on what I have on display in my artifact room and after about 3 hours of counting and sorting I came up with the figure of 10,436 pieces that are actually out for display. I had estimated between 13,000 to 15,000 total artifacts that I had in my collection and I'd say that if I added in all the Scrapers, Flake Knives, Uniface Tools, and other odds and ends that are still in boxes it would probably be in that range though more then likely closer to the 13,000 mark.

Here's a breakdown on some of the numbers.
Number of trays both Rikers and Wooden - 123
Showcases - 3
Curio Cabinet - 1
Shell Beads - 746
Bone Beads - 368
Stone Celts - 72
Hammerstones - 89
Discoidals - 78
Stone Hoes - 23
Pestles - 9
Axes - 15
Plummets - 24
Grooved Mauls - 2
Showcase #1 - 888 pieces (mostly loose points)
Showcase #2 - 1960 pieces (mostly loose points and scrapers)
Curio Cabinet - 42 pieces
Fossils - 360
Sharks Teeth - 208
That leaves around 8,000+ Arrowheads, Knives, Drills, and Scrapers

really enjoy checking otur collection, although ill have to look at it a few more times to soak it all in. very impressive and well organized.

Thanks for sharing, that was awesome!Just curious, how big of an area did your collection come from?A few counties, states, ect? Thanks again, Lightman

I had completely forgotten about this thread. Thanks for bumping it back up.

Lightman, the bulk of my personally found items have came from 4 counties in 2 states. That would be Scioto and Lawrence counties in Ohio and Greenup and Lewis counties in Kentucky. All 4 of these are right on the Ohio River and have numerous sites all up and down the river and it's tributaries.

Here are 2 updated links to my collection. The first link is to my personally found items with a few bought or traded few items. The second link is to the 49 Continental States Collection I put together over the past couple of years.

Awesome collection! Out of curiosity, are most of the 13,000-15,000 pieces in your collection whole pieces? Or do you have a good amount of brokes?

Almost everything I have on display is a whole piece. There may be a tip missing or a tang knocked off or a ding here or there but I count those as a whole piece. If I counted only perfect and completely undamaged pieces it would be a lot less.

That is an awesome collection of artifacts, thanks for sharing! You have caused me to look back thru my junk pile for possible tools.I have learned a lot from this site, and from you.I wish I had your computer/camera skills. Thanks again,I really enjoyed the show! Lightman
