Calling All Army Dawgies - When and Where did you go to Boot camp.

Go for all the retirement you can get! My father retired as a Major with 41 1/2 years service. Fun part for me was I fixed the same helicopters he used to fly.

Grandfather served Navy WWI
Father served Army WWII
Uncle served Navy WWII
I served Army GWI
 

Good for you, I retired in 95 after 20 years. That was my plan and stayed with it. Once I hit 20 I was ready and never looked back. My training helped keep me employed until I decided to quit working altogether.

Missed me by 10 years. I was in Hanau Germay 1981-1983. That was my first assignment fresh out of CID school.


I was stationed in Hanau from 1966 to 1968 - Hutier Kaserne.

I did Basic and Ait OSUT at Ft. McClellan, AL. 95B MP. 3-1-83 to 2-28-86. Stationed at Peden barracks, West Germany, for 18 months than Ft. Hamilton, Brooklynn, N.Y. For 12 months. It was great.
 

I'm not Marine, so I went to Basic at Fort Sill, OK. AIT at Fort Bliss (El Paso, TX).

Ft. Jackson 2004 i think it was september thru nov. I had some pretty hard core d.s the senior d.s was an 11bravo he had that screaming eagle combat patch i remember at graduation he had those class As on and man we couldnt believe the bling he had on he was bad ass Drill Seargent Belt i never will forget him
 

B-3-1 Fort Ord California. September 1973. I had turned 17 years old three weeks prior, and joined with parental permission. Ended up as a Warrant Officer Helicopter Pilot 11 years later!

(The dates have changed to protect the innocent since I'm getting too old to remember the exact time frames LOL....)
 

basic Ft. Jackson, Electronics school 32G20 Ft. Momouth, NJ for six months. Then got assigned to the wrong unit 11 Air Assault at Ft. Benning, out in the boonies. They did not have my MOS so on my first weekend leave I went to the main post communications center and knocked on the door explained my situation to the comm center staff sgt and he got my orders changed in 2 hours. 11 Air Assault changed it's colors and went to Vietnam. I think they took over the 1st Calv.
