Found this today at an old cabin site, really have no clue what it could be.. one side says vote for president Abraham Lincoln, other side says vote for Andrew Jackson vice president. Haven't attempted to really clean it at all. What's the scoop?

Thanks for the link Don, unfortunately the one I found has been in the dirt for many years so the pictures of Lincoln and Jackson are gone... May be worthless now, but still great find!

Cool find either way... But still should be worth something just on it's history!!!

Yes, that were my thoughts also.. does anyone have any sites they could recommend? As far as rarity, value, how they were dispersed? It was found in southern Ohio

I would imagine that even in the condition yours is in that it would still bring maybe a couple hundred bucks from the right buyer

Some added history to enhance the perceived value: The frame was designed by John Gault, who patented this design and also made the Encased Postage Stamps of the Civil War era, for use as small change due to a shortage of coin.
Don........

Will assure you it still has some value. Absolutely awesome find. Congrats:icon_thumleft:

Wow, that is really neat

Without the photos on either side I'm assuming value would be next to nothing... Just me being a new member. Looking for insight of the numerous "pros" to give me some truth. Everyone's input is so much appreciated. Guess it's because I'm new and feel so accomplished to find several things but you all members know it all seems like!!! :-D

Basically if I could get a few to give me insight and pointers on metal detecting I'd love it. Especially if someone around my are would be willing to hunt with me would be awesome if time would allow. I have numerous sites dating wayyy back that I honestly don't feel I'm proficient enough at this point to cover and reveal objects that if I had a pro I could learn... To me be well worth it.

that's a great find & I'd be very happy! The historic value is worth more to me than the monetary value but that's just me. Although I'm sure this item still does have some monetary value. What, I don't have a clue. It looks in good shape to me with a lot of gilt left.

where are you located Kevin?

That's an awesome find in my book. Great score!

This is a wonderful find! Congratulations. :icon_thumright:

Ok, so again just out of curiosity... What would a campaign token in this condition be valued at, if any value at all? I have no clue

Kevin,
At noted in my first post, a similar medal in new condition sold in 2010 for $2,150; and another one was getting ready for auction in June of a subsequent year. You may wish to contact the auctioneers and inquire what was the sales price.
Use the area marked: Ask Auctioneer a Question.
Don.......
