Went out today for a quick adventure at Pompano Beach.
It was chilly, very windy, and I kept getting pelted by sand, but today, it was worth it. I've found my first silver of the year in the form of a nice earring, stamped "S925." I also found a mystery object in the surf, a sizable solid iron sphere (tested with magnet) that's heavily encrusted. The pessimistic side of me believes it to be an older fishing weight, but I can't help but think it could potentially be grapeshot. I've never found anything other than lead for fishing weights up to this point, so it would be first for me either way. Let me know what you think! I'm currently experimenting with different cleaning techniques, so I'll post a pic of it once it's cleaned up, but for now here are the results of my hour and a half hunt below!
