Its a Milled Pillar Type Spanish Colonial coin minted in mexico. You could sell that combination for big bucks on eBay if authentic.

Thanks for the response, seems its a Mexico City mint which is what i was trying to find out. It was found on a site i have been working on for @ 3 years; i am at the moment talking to a governement in the Caribbean to try and open a museum if we can locate suitable premises. From the site there have been recovered several thousand items; with various other pieces that cover the history of the Caribbean we are looking to start a tourist attraction which would re-create an excavation, cover the whole piracy era with 1000+ original items and go on to slavery, tobacco and cocoa growing etc.... There are a series of books written to go with the project which will be published at the end of the year. I will put up some pictures of the site and some of the exhibits we have in storage ready to go next week on the "best finds" section. Bit busy this weekend. THANK YOU FOR ALL THE HELPFUL E MAILS ON THIS !
