Can anyone help date this mason jar

You can go to school on this article: Mason's Patent Nov 30th 1858 fruit jars
Basically, from 1858 and throughout the next 60-odd years, production of jars with the Nov. 30, 1858 embossing continued at a high rate, with untold tens of millions (or more) produced. The phrase was soon considered an important marketing device, adding to the perception of quality and reliability of the container to the average consumer, and, at least by 1879 (21 years after the patent was issued), it is very likely that nearly every glass bottle factory was producing their own version.

What Don said. I've got mason jar with a very small 1908 date around the bottom edge. Yours looks much older than mine. Tony

In the Illustrated Guide- 1000 Fruit Jars/ 5th Edition showing 2010 values By Bill Schroeder
This book only list three different jars made by CFJ Co.
It looks like you have a Consolidated Fruit Jar Co., Handmade, Aqua, Zinc Lid container. Book value $3.00 to $5.00. But if it does have a Ground Lip! You have the third jar listed!!!!!!!
The second jar listed is a CFJ Co. Mason's Improved - Handmade, Green, Quart, Pint, Glass Lid, Metal Band. With Clyde NY on it. Book Value $6.00 to $8.00.
The Third jar listed is a CFJ Co. Mason's Improved- Handmade, Amber, Aqua, Quart, Zinc Lid, Ground Lip. Book value- Amber $200.00+/ Aqua $300.00+
These are only book values from 2010. A true collector may pay more. I do not collect fruit jars. So you might want to do some investigating before you put a value on it.
The Book does show on the third jar The C has ears on both ends of the C like a check mark. It looks like yours have this on the top of the C, but I can't see the bottom part of the C.
Hope this helps.
:hello:
The word Improved is NOT printed on the jars.

John Mason had the first patent for this type of Screw closure on glassware, with his 1858 Mason Jar.Or I should say, a greatly improved one. The early ones were made at Crowleytown, and would have not had a smooth lip, but rather a ground down version like you have there. The ground lips generally were before 1900 or so. Another similarity of yours with the older ones is the pronounced square shoulder. Usually the older ones had crudely done letters and the jar has had been in reproduction ever since.Seeing that yours was made by the Consolidated Fruit Jar Company , it is most likely after 1878 when they used that logo. Not so sure on this though, as good as it looks, they made many good looking repos.

Cleaned it up a little from what I've read this is a pretty nice jar

I'm thinking the metal flake is from the mold maybe

Trying to get a pic of surface

The surface is not smooth at all all bumpy and indented if that makes sense

I get like 5 bucks for that at the flea market- maybe 10 - if you can find a zinc lid from some other jar - it should fit..
