Thank you both so much. My grandmother found this in a coin sorter about 40 years ago and has never known what it was. I can't wait to tell her!

She found it in Miami of all places.

I love this site and have been lurking here since 2004 but rarely post.

I'm going to call her this week let her know. She did not even think it was real, just thought it was "neat". Here's another pic.

I have to agree, the way the dotted boarder finishes so suddenly without fading into 'shadowed' remains is not how a hammered coin would look.
