Can anyone tell me about this spanish silver I dug today?

It is dime sized and dates from 1783. After I find out what it is I will tell the whole story in todays finds.

Assuming Mex. City mint then coin is 20mm in dia., .9027% silver and the reverse legend would read: HISPAN. ET IND. REX. M (little 'o' over 'M'). 1R. FF (assayer's initials). But there is no '1' before the 'R', so coin would be a 1/2 real and 18mm in diameter. And if the assayer's initials happen to be FM instead of FF, then value is increased 2-fold.

It actually measures 23 mm and 1 mm thick

Nice find...Half reale, here's the one I found. Yours is in much better shape. They used to keep them a strings or a wire in their purses so they would not lose them. That's why 99% of them are holed...Rich.
