Can I get started for under $100? Even used equipment?

I'm wanting to get started detecting but I'm on a budget. Can I get something for under $100, even used? What should I look for in a detector? I checked some pawn shops today but they were all $140+ and were less than desirable in appearance.

I may be asking for the moon here, but I'm no pro and just looking to have fun for less money.

HI ,,,,You can get started for under $100. BUT with in 2 years you might have $7000 invested like some of us, around here!!! I won't mention any names.

It gives a high tone for items above the disc setting & a low tone for items below disc setting (like the MXT). It weighs 2 lbs 5 oz excluding the 2 9 volt batteries it uses.
