Today my wife helped me to move a few rows of boxes in our room of possessions (most of our stuff still boxed up without room in mother's home). It's very sad I know to have to get your wife to help you move boxes, but believe me this carpal tunnel is no joke. And when it is severe enough to hurt with small weight as well as you risking dropping anything at anytime, well then you will really appreciate all the simple things you do with your hands and wrists on a normal basis.

NOW for the meat and potatoes. I have already mentioned a Christmas gift my daughter got from Duffy and now I have one other great member to honor.

Seigfried or SS as friends know him.

We were talking about the fact that when I was coin roll hunting my daughter often looks through the pennies and keeps all the canadian pennies. She does this because she really thinks they are cool, and because they are different. She is 7 now, but when she was 4 and we were moving from Lexington back here she was fascinated by the small collection of foreign coins I had collected in the many countries I had visited. And I personally think that is why she gobbles up the canadian pennies when we CRH together.

SS asked me if I had a book to keep her Canadian pennies in. I said no. He really wanted to send her a book for Christmas so I gave him the address.

What I got was a big surprise. IT was 2 books on Canadian coins, and a few days later another package with 54 assorted coins from different countries.

SS unfortunately I was not here at Christmas so I didn't get a picture of her opening this present. I guess I missed alot last Christmas. She got marbles she loved, these books to admire her Canadian collection and some really cool foreign coins. I bought her a child detector as well and some other cool gifts. I learned the hard way from her excitement over the phone when she told me about these many great gifts that I need to get me a camcorder and not miss these moments again.

In addition he also sent her the oldest Canadian penny she has a 1934 one. My pictures are notoriously bad, just ask members here LOL they will tell you. So sorry that the pictures are terrible.

Not only did he give her cool coins, and nice books but a bit more passion at collecting. Between SS and Duffy's gifts of marbles she is much more attentive at looking at coins and many things. There is also the gift of having fun with my daughter on the internet looking up all of these foreign coins (even the ones I already know) and having her identify them. Really good deal because I can teach her a little bit about search engines, and looking through coins will certainly help her a great deal more with attention to detail. Perhaps after that we and I me WE will stand some sort of a chance at identifying the marbles from Duffy. LOL marbles are really hard to identify I have found out.

She has added only a few coins to the books, but that is ok. We get them while CRH penny boxes. IT's the only CRH I have been doing over the last months and my daughter and I look forward to our penny boxes we get 2x a month.

SS thank you very much for your kind present to my daughter. She loves it and is certainly gaining one sharp eye when it comes to spying peps pocket change and any change that is around.

We all had things as a child we probably wished we had kept or atleast kept in good shape. I know many a thing I could have kept could have good value by now. And our grandparents ..etc..well LOL who knows what will gain in value and what will not. I will say that SS, Duffy and the many posters on this site are teaching my daughter a great lesson in collecting and in taking care of things. She still plays with her toys and has great fun, but she fully understands things that could have value or perhaps value someday. So I can always be for sure that she will not be playing with valuables at others homes. She does certainly pay more attention and seems to have a greater appreciation for the things on display at places she visits.

Here are those gifts: Please posters reply a great deal. Both SS and Duffy (whose post is in the general section along with pics of the marbles) deserve a great deal of credit for their generosity and great presents to my daughter. I know these were a great help in keeping her mind off the fact that Daddy was in the hospital at the time.

TY

Postal,

Really glad to see that you are at least up to typing again. I'm sorry that things have been hard for you lately. Life goes in cycles, some good and some bad and in the end, I like to believe it all balances out. Don't feel ashamed for needing help from your wife and others who care about you. You promised one another to be there in both sickness and health. Use this time to spend with your family. It won't be what you were able to provide them with that they will remember 20 years from now..it will be the good times you guys had together that will stay with you all. I'm wishing you better and brighter times ahead.

In times like these, when most of us don't know our neighbors, it's good to see people who are willing to go out of their way to make a child's day. That's so cool. ;D

nice finds, looks like a good collection you have going there.

Great response with many words of wisdom. I am just like many if not most of the rest here, have had quite a few curveballs thrown my way. Just does seem like quite a few more in the last few years. I am lucky enough to have a super wife of almost 16 years, great daughter as well. Loads of awesome friends here. I took a bit of time to ponder on a lot of things and became a small amount of a recluse this injury, but other than that I have spent much of the last 4 years of tougher times enjoying watching my daughter grow up and getting the pleasure of that. Last few years she has been doing the school thing that all kids get the pleasure of doing. So hopefully by mid 2008 I can say I have returned to some type of work, am Metal Detecting, and will still have the evenings after school for her.

Your post is pretty much well on point for me and for many others. My daughter is my #1 goal.

Thank you for the great response. It's a great one for me as well as others who may be a bit sad, depressed, you name it. Of course they will have to come to the conclusion themselves just as I did, but in the end they will hopefully realize all the great things I still have around me.
