Canadian silver still dominating :(

Are you complaining about finding canadian silver?
 

Feel free to throw them back or give them to one of us!
 

Yes, I kinda am complaining!! I would much rather find us than canadian!!
 

Complaining about finding Canadian silver is like complaining you have to much money. Just be happy you are finding silver and not getting skunked. If you hate it that much you can send them to me.

All that i am saying is that if I was to find 5 silver dimes, I would prefer them all to be US , not Canadian.
 

Canadian silver coins were in circulation longer than the U.S. and were sterling silver up to 1920. But I'd take a Canadian or a us silver coin of any date and be very happy! [emoji2]

You should put up some pictures of the silvers you find. Maybe a good year or variety in will in there sometime.
From 1870 to 1919 Canada quarters for example were struck to a standard of 5.81 grams of 92.5% (sterling) silver so at roughly have about $3.75 worth of silver in them. From 1920 to 1966 there were struck to a standard of 5.83 grams of 80% silver so roughly have about $3.26 worth of silver. 1967 and 1968 quarters are slightly less.
 

Your right on the halves. I was more talking about common pocket change. Halves dated 1965 through 1970 contain 40% silver. Halves dated 1971 or later are copper-nickel clad coins. They were not used in circulation much by the mid 1960's.

You are correct there. Halves dated 1971 or later were not used in circulation much in the 1960's. 40% silver halves were. I am a child of the '60's. Grandma gave us silver coins in the '60's, and she gave us Ike dollars for our birthday in the '70's.

Glad for the info. I'm not that great when it comes to all the us coin info. I'm up here in Nova Scotia. I am sure going to be psyched when I finally dig a silver us. I'm way over due. I found almost 300 year old Spanish silver and almost 150 year old Canadian silver but no us silver. Closest I came was a 1966 us quarter! Haha
