I think the question is if it's a 50%er or 80%er. I could be wrong based on my memory but there's a 50%er and 80%er variety in 1968 which is hard to distinguish. Or does that only apply to quarters?

Nice going if it's silver. :icon_thumright:

For the dime and quarter, 1967, there was the 80/20% silver-copper, and also 50/50% silver-copper.
In 1968 there was 50/50% silver-copper, also 99% nickel.

Thanks for the correction.. was just going off memory.. I don't focus much on Canadians so my numbers were off.

As has been posted on here several times now, a couple recently, it's the '67 Canadian dimes and quarters, that were minted as both 80%ers and 50%ers and there is no way to distinguish between the two (same weight and dimensions). Thus they are treated, when buying or selling, as 65%ers.

I culled 2 Canadian Dimes out of my "Foreign Silver" collection last night thanks to this post. I could have sworn that In looked them up in a book and it said they were silver.

Thanks ChainChomp!

Not that looking is 100% but after a while you will be able to tell most of the time by looking whether or not it is silver.

Yeah, it didn't look silver, but I had my fingers crossed.
