Canadian Token

Obviously not too many Canadians around.
Your find is quite common and worth about a dollar. Those large sized tokens sometime give a scare when they pop out of the hole.
Nice that you found it in the U.S.

These were a set of medallions given away by Shell back in the '60s, the subject matter being floral emblems of Canada. There were thirteen in a complete set (12 provinces, 2 territories, 1 for Canada). Shell also issued a cardboard plaque to mount them on.

They are scarcer than they once were, but no appreciable change in value for them has occurred. They usually go for about a quarter apiece or less, depending on how shiny they are, as the gold-coloured finish would wear off quickly.
