All Treasure Hunting
Hello,
I was at Marconi Beach yesterday. There is a sign posted of things excluded and metal detecting is one of them. Someone mentioned entering south of this beach, so I did at Nauset Beach. I didn't get very scanning north toward Marconi, which is 13-miles north. I'm happy to report I found very little trash - nice clean beach. I found a bunch of hot rocks. Dug a whole bunch of them. Found nothing. At the beach entry, I found a few pennies.
There is no safe or allowed way to enter the beach from the Marconi Site area. The slope of the banks is just about vertical and probably a 30' drop.
No one bothered me at Nauset and I didn't see any "no metal detecting signs" but as another person was told, it's probably not allowed anywhere on National Sea Shore, which itself is a National Treasure - no hunting involved. It's worth going just to see it. Don't be blinded by a metal detector. Keep your eyes open for the prize.
