Hi all,
Went down to a camp on the middle cape to replace an iron soil pipe.
As I backfilled, I scanned every few inches of the
trash filled piles with my Coiltek Joey,
Its separation capability is outstanding
Mike at Woodlanddetectors got the best deal on em...
I use mine more than my stock coil.
Got a nice silver Thimble, and a really ugly ring with that beautiful 925 mark ;D
Some 19th/20th century glass & pottery, the camp was built in the 50s, apparently on an older site. I have an intact script 'CSM Boston Ma' bottle I found up here,
the plain jar with the patent dates is rather odd, it is in mirror image (corrected in photo) must be for the rim design.
Searched the local swimming areas, junk rings, clad, & a cool looking cross.
This year someone beat me to the good stuff ::)
Low tide at the beach here lets you walk two miles (no Kidding!) and still not reach the water.
Had a great trip! Planning on doing it again next week too, to find some old stuff at sites I scoped during this visit :hello2:
thanks for looking! HH all

Nice thimble. Might be able to round over a wooden dowel to size and use a rubber mallet to gently reshape the top of the thimble without damaging it.

Love the cross! The Cape is awesome. We try to go every year in June.

Nice finds and a nice looking place for hunting!

oh, yeah-- love them C.C. beaches-- Great finds!! my best day ever was out a Newcomb Hollow, the off shore sand bar broke open from heavy waves. For about 60' almost every wave washed up a silver coin - including a Barbara half door! got a nice mens diamond ring also. oh, this was the middle of winter when every else was under snow!! just don't get back there often enough.

nice finds and a sweet thimble!

Thanks HMN & da Prof!
I looked up Newcomb Hollow, isn't that National Seashore area, ??
Where they take your detector & ship you to Gitmo :o
I've never ventured to the outer shore (much as I'd like some Whydah Gold ;D )
because I heard it's all off limits, would like to know, I'm headed back this week!!
HH

The cross and thimble are killer :headbang:

Thanks guys,
I'll see what I can find on Marconi Beach :o
I see my cob in that photo :laughing7:

"I am a Free Prince and I have as much authority
to make war on the whole world as he who has a
hundred sail of ships at sea and an army of 100,000 men
in the field, and this my conscience tells me."
Pirate Captain Samuel “Black Sam” Bellamy

"The story of the Whydah is the stuff of legend, but what’s better, the story is true. Back in the early dawn hours of April 26, 1717, the sailing vessel, which began its life as a slave ship, was caught in a horrendous nor’easter off the coast of Cape Cod. Its captain, the British-born Samuel “Black Sam” Bellamy, was believed to be headed for Provincetown to reunite with his love, Maria Hallet, and to retire from his life of plundering on the high seas.

It was a voyage that began almost exactly where it tragically ended, just off the coast of Eastham on what is now Marconi Beach, which houses the remnants of Marconi’s transatlantic communication towers. The Whydah shipwrecked fewer than five miles shy of its return destination after being away for more than two years, stealing from other sea-faring vessels. While the Whydah sank with tons of gold and silver, it was also carrying a treasure trove of historical artifacts, which lay preserved just 30 feet below the water’s surface about 500 yards from shore. Some 140 pirates were aboard the ship when it sank, including John King, a boy of not more than 11 who is believed to have been the youngest member of the ill-fated crew. His leg bone, silk stocking and shoe were found among the wreckage. "
