I completed my collection of capped bust halves. This series ran from 1807-1836. None were made in 1816. In 1815, only 40,000 were made. These are rare and expensive. I won’t be getting one anytime soon!😫 These coins are slightly larger and slightly thinner than newer silver halves like Walkers. They also have slightly more silver. Unlike many coins, these show good details even when worn and sometimes take on a 3D effect. I bought several that were holed and one that was plugged. Most coin collectors cringe at holed coins, but I think they are part of the history of these coins. The era with the most holed coins is definitely the seated liberty era. 1839-1891. So many of those are holed, for whatever reason. These ranged in price between $80 and $200. The 1814 and 1820 were the hardest to find and most expensive.

Nice, I've only got a couple but have always liked them.
Agreed. I have only a capped bust dime but it blew my mind thinking of how truly ancient this series of coins is, we're talking founding fathers and Revolutionary War Veterans handling these, not to mention the War of 1812 actively happening during the production run. The days of Napoleon Bonaparte's empire.

Beautiful collection! Congratulations!
