I found this yesterday at a site of an old ski lodge up in the mountains. It appears to be a nameplate from something, I just don't know what it is from.

It is made out of cast iron with a threaded stud on the back and a brass name "WEED" attached to the front of the cast iron oval. Doing a search for Weed on Google is not going to get me anywhere, so now I have enlisted the experts! Any ideas?

Well, I can see how tough that might be! Sorry, I have no clue, but it is a really cool find!

I am pretty sure that is off of an old Weed Manufacturing treadle sewing machine.

The same Weed that made the sewing machines also made bicycles.

Here is a rough estimate of its age ... 1858 to 1888. Yes, as already mentioned it is probably the Weed Sewing Machine emblem.
