I've owned my Fisher F2 for about a year and after practicing in the yard and finding pennies (2 wheaties), dimes, and strange odds and ends, I decided to venture out to local parks. Luckily there are no laws restricting local park detecting! So on my birthday this year in September, my wife and I set out to a new park we hadn't been to. After about an hour and a half I had found the usual pennies and dimes. Ready to call it a day my wife said, "You haven't even gone across the bridge yet!", which is where there was another 1/2 of the park. "Ok I said", and after about 10 minutes, got a "dime/quarter" bounce on the detector. I dug and dug and still could find nothing. After about 8", I found this! I had always dreamed of finding even a mercury dime or something! Here are the specs from ncgcoin.com:

Specifications
Composition: Silver
Fineness: 0.9030
Weight: 27.0673g
ASW: 0.7858oz

Reverse Legend: HISPAN ET IND REX ...

Also - from people I've spoken with cutting a silver piece was common place as to create denominations for exchange. This one looks deliberately cut.

Whatever you do - just have fun. Try to be patient - you never know when or what you'll find!!!

You got the good half with the date too! Sweet!

Hey Tom,

Looks like my scale puts it at 12g, and not sure about diameter, but have included more pics...
