I bought a 1881 wooden carved cigar humidor over a decade ago as I am a wood carver. It has very detailed carvings depicting animals, seashells and tree trunks.
What strikes me as very odd, is that some of the carvings have been jigged out ( erased) . Jigs are like you see on a pocketknife handle.
One particular item carved out was an OWL on a tree limb. It is still recognizable. On top of the lid is a mushroom which looks like a BELL.
Much has been erased but what remains is a SUNFLOWER.
I have been confounded for many years and I'm ready to share some of it with hopes of being enlightened.
Enclosed are a few photos, I will not show all details yet.
