case ?

I found this at my foundation site. It's two pieces that go together and seem to make a box. The bottom half has a chain with a small green bead attached. Anyone know what this might have been used for?

After soaking it a bit I can now see the impression of two circles on the inside of the box.
I think it may have held a scale like the one in the picture below.

Well I think it may have been a make-up case, seeing the flower
on the case, it might have held face powder and rouge.
Just my guess.
