There is no way your pound (and it's probably more like ounces) of gold is going to fetch much more than half "market" value to an entity in the business of buying such small amounts. If you thought otherwise, you were just inexperienced. Someone offering you money for an item you own doesn't make them a crook - they aren't stealing it from you. You asked them if they wanted it.

Appears you are the one wrong, there are several places I know of alone that will give you 90% to 95% of spot price of gold at day of melt down, and that includes one of our own members here.

Many members have used Midwest Refineries and been very happy with the payout. :icon_thumright: http://mid westrefineries.com/

Allen, do you have a link to a story about this "lawsuit"?

As spartacus says: they don't pay much per oz., but that's a part of "buyer beware".

So if you have a link, let us know. I know of a few people who saw the TV ads, and sent in gold. They weren't necessarily dis-satisfied, until I told them they didn't get as much as they could have, elsewhere. Doh! So what is illegal about that though?

Good grief, this is the first sensible thing I have ever written. I wonder where others will fall in this discussion. The only way it would be illegal for them to stay in business is if they coerced you into selling.

I guess you aren't up on the details of the cash for gold scheme so let me enlighten those of you who don't know why they are coming under fire...

They promise high prices but don't deliver them. They take your shipped gold and conveniently "lose it" and you get nothing. They assay your gold content at much lower than it actually is. They charge fees that they don't tell you about up front. This is not just a case of buyer beware. These guys are scammers plain and simple. They commit fraud.

Tell me this... how long would it take for you to call the cops if I told you that I'd pay you $100 for your gold and then turned around and sent you a $10 check in the mail? Or how about if I claimed that I never got your gold and that you were SOL? Do you still think the only way it would be illegal for them to stay in business is if they coerced you into selling? If so, think again.

These guys don't just need to be shut down. They need to do jail time. Shutting down businesses with a slap on the wrist is like sending an illegal alien back over the border. They'll just be back in a week doing the same things.
Our tv troubleshooter did this story and they wanted to pay her like %4 on about $100 worth of gold !!

I agree, put these thieves in jail after shutting them down !!
Our local tv station sent them like $10000 worth of gold and they sent her like a $20 check !!

Where are your facts on this?

Where are your facts on this?
This was done by our channel 32 troubleshooter Charla Young
on the date I posted this thread and if you want more information,
you can go to their website and see if it is still on their web page.
How does that sound to you my friend ? :read2:

If the news said it, it must be true! Don't you know they are an honest non-profit entity! No searching for Charla Young will turn up a story about Cash4Gold. Why not provide a link so we can see her awesome end-all story?

37Th poster- Appears someone wants to show how arrogant they can be going through and critiquing our posts...

awwww - don't be so dang sensitive to some sarcasm in a post. I injected a little funny to show MTS that really there were only 3 of 30-some posts that were saying what he assumed the whole thread was talking about. I could've gotten angry when he said that I can't read. Instead I pointed out in a joking manner that the thread is overwhelmingly about "buyer beware" vs. throw people in jail for being in business.

Guess we need some more teenish emoticons to make you feel better.

You've got wwwaaayyy to much time on your hands dude!!

And it took some time too! :)

Looks like you got time to read this thread then you go to channel 32 news archives and look for it, im a busy man !!!

If and when the lawsuit goes to court, if CashForGold is found guilty of the charges in the lawsuit, that of defrauding customers based on the allegations in the lawsuit, then CAshForGold committed fraud and fraud is a crime, punishable by prison time......

I for one would never send any gold to them, there are legimitate business that will give you what your gold is truly worth, I listed only two of them here, Midwest Refineries, as well as JewelerDave, a member of TreasureNet, and contrary to what you said they pay a lot more the "half market price".

This is what the Charla Young showed on television,
she went to different stores, bought 14 kt gold from
several places in Louisville, it showed her placing the
gold in the prepaid cash for gold envelope, and I think
it was about 4 days later she received her check which
was for little of nothing.
Myself I take my gold to my buddy George at my local
pawn shop and he pays me a decent amount for it.
