Well I thought I would start out with the Fisher this morning and plans changed.I loaded up the truck and went out to detect a field I just planted .Thought how stupid it would be to dig a bunch of holes in my food plot.So I decided to go and dig in the cellar by an old house that was built around 1895.I had dug in this cellar last fall but the ground was to hard.Today it was easy diggins.I got down about 2 feet and started hitting old glass and steel.Dug a little deeper and started finding whole bottles,1920's or so.I then found this spoon below the bottles with a makersmark or an initial.I also found this rosette in the cellar last fall in the top foot or so.I have only made it about 3 feet down so far.Had to quit and give the back a break.I will take some pics of the house and cellar next time I'm out.Watcha think about the spoon. Hill Billy

Old rat tail spoon...mid 1800s...

Re: Cellar digs on the farm

Congrats on your finds, love the spoon. I have 1 similar to yours dug at a colonial site. It's not in as good as shape as yours.

Re: Cellar digs on the farm

Nice stuff. That rosette looks like an old one... maybe WWI vintage.

Re: Cellar digs on the farm

Wow great relics! We want to see pictures of the other finds too please.

Re: Cellar digs on the farm

Nice finds. Would like to see your bottles too. ;D

Re: Cellar digs on the farm

Excellent work! I'd love to see a photo of the bottles sometime...

I think the replies above are accurate on the date of the spoon. Looks like it has the initial "A" on it. Cool find!

Here is one of the bottles I brought home, the others were broken up so I left them by my throw dirt.

Re: Cellar digs on the farm

That's a great bottle. It looks hand-blown. Is it unmarked?

Re: Cellar digs on the farm

Yeah Will it is unmarked, seam runs up to the base of the neck.

So there is a seam. Maybe not as old as I had first thought, but still certainly a keeper!

Cool finds, Hill Billy!

Would love to see pics of this site.

Thanks for sharing.

I added some pics of the old farm house.I have found 7 different wells on the farm so there must have been houses at each one. This house is the only one still standing.I need to locate where the houses sat and find the privies.Only a few coins have come up so far MD'n.War nickel,2 IHeads, and a seated dime.I will get some pics of the wells and the old stone fences soon.
