Haven't found much at this cellar hole but took it very slow today and dug a couple keepers. The site is pre-1870 so the indian must have been dropped by someone later. Thanks for looking, the weather is starting to get nice here in Michigan :icon_thumleft:

Nice Coppers Button and Buckle :o
I've only seen one other terracotta pipe fragment
mine looks similar to yours, it's marked 78WWHITES GLASGOW,
and has a bore of .10 inches, That's 6-7/64ths I think :icon_scratch:
Though I find information stating W.Whites factory opened in 1877...
Here's a table of alleged Bore/date info.
Great Finds, Congrats!!
Diameter Dates

9/64 1590-1620
8/64 1620-1650
7/64 1650-1680
6/64 1680-1720
5/64 1720-1750
4/64 1750-1800
Hey Herbie, this pipe has different wording on it than yours but I haven't researched it yet. I'll see what I can find out. What's up with the diameter's changing over the years :dontknow:. Yeah, I added the pipe to the pics because its the first I have seen like that as well. Thanks bud!
Hi Mark, the earlier pipes had small bowls, (tobacco was expensive)
The size of the bores decreased as the knowledge
of making them advanced. so the theory goes :dontknow:
I would like to include a pic of this entire page, but don't have the book handy,
you can see the pipes developing larger bowls as they go into the 1700s.
The example on the book has correct bore for photo match, 8/64, or 1/8"
Best Digs, Herbie.
