I have been enjoying all of your comments for about a month now as well as CRHing for about the same amount of time. I have a quick question has anyone ever been charged by the roll from your banks? I remember reading that some banks charge a % and that’s not real popular with most of you, but yesterday I was charged ten cents a roll!!! I thought this was crazy since I just wanted $10 in nickels and $10 in pennies. Well I didn’t want it to hinder my exciting Saturday night plans so I paid the fee. I found 42 & 45 war nickel and 2 wheats one of the wheats had a hole drilled through Abe’s head (bad taste).
Happy hunting.

A few people have complained about the per roll fee lately... not good news.

10 cents a roll for a roll that costs only 50 cents is crazy. I can't believe you would actually pay that! =(

I wouldn't even pay 10 cents a roll for halves, let alone pennies. But to each their own I suppose.

I highly suggest you try another bank. ;)

Yar...

They claim that the delivery companies charge THEM a fee to deliver... so they pass it on to US.

We have tried to work out how banks pay their fees but it seems to be a bunch of different options...

Flat fee per period of time or by certain amounts.

Some banks claim they get fees for halve boxes because they aren't on the normal list of orders...

I dunno... something is fishy.

I recently was told that there was a 50 cent per roll charge at a B of A.

After I left there, I got to wondering -- what would happen if I said I wanted "unrolled coin"?

"Oh Mr. Banker! I'll take $10 in loose pennies please."

They might be willing to waive the roll charge then.

It must be illegal. They are charging you more money than the legal tender value. They are a BANK. Rolls or not, it is against the law for a bank to charge more for coin & currency than face value, and most likely against the regulations of that bank. I would complain to corporate headquarters about it. The squeaky wheel gets the grease!

Ditto - that or find a new bank. AMC

Most likely a fee to discourge CRH's

My dump bank made a statement like that to me, and it detered me from buying coin from them allright.
