· The American Red Cross President and CEO Marsha J. Evans
salary for the year was $651,957 plus expenses.


· The United Way President Brian Gallagher receives a $375,000 base salary along with numerous expense benefits.


· UNICEF CEO Caryl M. Stern receives $1,200,000 per year (100k per month) plus all expenses including a ROLLS ROYCE . Less than 5 cents of your donated dollar goes to the cause.


· The Salvation Army's Commissioner Todd Bassett receives a
salary of only $13,000 per year (plus housing) for managing this $2 billion dollar organization. 96 percent of donated dollars go to the
cause.


· The American Legion National Commander receives a $0.00 zero
salary. Your donations go to help Veterans and their families and
youth!


· The Veterans of Foreign Wars National Commander receives a
$0.00 zero salary. Your donations go to help Veterans and their
families and youth!


· The Disabled American Veterans National Commander receives a

Having worked for 'charities' for many years, I can EXPLICITLY & DEFINITIVELY say that 99% of them are scams!

The cause that the money goes to in most instances is legit; Make-a-Wish, Red Cross, Feed the Children & virtually every other. However...

The big, bad dirty secret isn't just the salaries as mentioned above, but rather...

The fact that MOST (I would say 80% to 85%) of monies raised for these charities DO NOT go into the hands of the people who need it. Rather, most - if not all - of the funds raised go towards 'administration expenses' 'Administration expenses' is a broad term if you catch my drift

It is not uncommon for the charity - or more correctly - the outfit raising money for the charity, to claim a negative balance at the end of the year. Meaning, they actually lost money. Wink, wink

The vast majority of charities DO NOT raise funds themselves. Instead, they hire outside companies (telemarketing firms, direct mail agencies, etc.) to solicit the money on their behalf...and herein lies the problem. These outside firms fully understand nobody is policing them, so, they use whatever tactics they can to part the public with their cash - lying, misrepresentation, etc. This outside company walks away with the lions share of the money that's raised. The charity knows what's going on in reference to the tomfoolery in most cases, but, looks the other way since these companies are defrauding the public for the charity's own good.

**FACT** - There is NO law that states what a charity - or company raising money for the charity - has to give to the recipients. The sad reality is that in most cases only 2% to 10% of all monies raised actually goes to help the needy

I like to keep my charities mostly in my own backyard. I give local and help local. I see my help being used. I like that. The big bad charities that ship XXX overseas etc to help people, well, I don't give them money. I know it doesn't go where it belongs.

You also left out the Postal service,Postmaster General makes over $2 million+ a year,for a company that's losing money everyday.The ones that really get me are the scam artist's here in Texas,who want you to donate funds for their church,while they stand on the curb smoking and drinking beer.

As do I . Funny how us rural folks are quick to help in our own community but don't try to save the world of scam artists .
