Finally got a break in the awful weather today so I headed back to the new field were I found the Saxon pennie, unfortunatlly the bad weather returned, but I was there and I wasn't going to let it put me off. luckily this field is still in stubble, so it wasn't to bad.
Turned out to be one of the better days for a long time, and one of the best days I have had with milled silvers, including the Charles 11, a huge William 111 half crown and a sixpence, along with a Vicky Shilling of 1900.
nother first for me was the completre shoe buckle. with the chape and pitch fork tongue, Romans were popping out all over including a huge Sestertius of Commodus. 1800s Pewter whistle..another first, Roman belt fitting and a complete georgian fob...I can't wait for this field to be ploughed, it just might chuck out something really spectacular.

The Shilling Books at £225 in F which is what this would grade, if it had been a VF=EF I would be looking at £2500=£3000 but I'll take it.

Congratulation!

Colin,SUPER hunt mate!!!! I sure wish I could find things so old, but,I'll take what I find!:laughing7: God Bless Chris

Great finds!! Congrats!! You are so lucky to have such a long history and to be able to make finds like that!!

That sesterius is great. I'm sure it's a fantastic thrill to see a big Roman pop out of the ground. I love the seal matrix and the whistle. I've seen two pewter whistles dug while hunting with friends, but have not dug one myself yet. That silver is a beautiful coin. The high-grade ones are out there to be found. Lets hope they dodged the plow all these years.

Congratulations on an excellent hunt. I always enjoy reading your posts, my friend.

Cheers,

Buckles

Thanks Buckles  The hunt was a bonus for this time of year, not sure how many more times I will get out this season.

Great coins! Congrats on the rare date! THE Hogge

a very nice selection of finds and a good days digging well done

You had an outstanding day for sure SS. Those silvers are nice but I really like those Romans since I can't dig those over here. Congrats on breaking your drought, and hope your luck continues.

THATS MORE LIKE IT. That will take some beating in the best of season. CONGRATS (we both know early milled are rarer than hammered, so you hit the jackpot)

Even though they are common over here bill, I never tire of digging Roman coins, the reverse images are never ending.

Even better wheh it's a Rare Date, now if I could just get a 1680 or 1682 b2, I might be able to afford a Dues.:laughing7:
