I found a few modern makers associated with the name charme, but none seem to be related as far as I can tell. We have a member here who is pretty good with jewelry stuff, his screen name is ARC. Hopefully he sees this or maybe try sending him a pm

This one is tougher than I expected. I thought that distinctive "diamond" logo would be easy to find.

Let me start by saying IMO that ring did NOT come in THAT box. The quality of the box is very nice so I would expect the ring inside to also be of good quality. The ring pictured in the original post... is not.

I found many companies in many different industries using the name CHARME or including the name. I did see a few jewelry industry magazines and circulars that referenced CHARME from the 1940's and early 50's (but I couldn't access them).

I also found this art deco ring with a CHARME makers mark:

CHARME ring.JPG

I know it's hard to see... The listing said CHAMPE.

This is a decent quality ring likely from the 40's or 50's (similar to my mother's - married 1955). So I think it is reasonable to assume the box is from that era.

Any body have anything else to add?

There's no comparable registered trademark for 'Charme' in the jewellery category in either the US or Canadian databases. It might be a French import, or an unregistered mark.

Is the ring itself marked in any way?

I assumed that the ring and box was all original. Red-Coat there is no markings on the ring which now I'm thinking that DCMatt nailed it with his opinion that this ring is not a Charme and not a match to the box... Thanks to all and especially to DCMatt on this one .....

What is the image above the CHARME inside the lid of the box? Possibly an 'F' made with a hammer?

From the Canadian Trade Index 1943:

Fremes, S., & Company, Limited, 333 Adelaide St.
W., Toronto, Ont. Jewellery. Cable address,

1 Fremes. Code, A.B.C. 5th Ed. Brand, “Charme”.
Trade mark, Hammer and ‘F’.

It pays to ask on this site as all the info you have found is just amazing.... Thanks so much again .... Too bad there isn't a triple solved button as you would deserve 3 times the credit......
