Chinese Coin???

Hi,
My friend dug this coin up. And neither of us being experts in foreign money, we were not able to identify it. Does anybody know what it is? How old it is? What is it worth? Translation of the characters?

It is a Chinese coin, from the 1800's. It is a called a devalued coin, as it is smaller than the normal issue coins. On the front (4 Chinese characters) the top and bottom character tells you what the king's reigning name is.....and on the reverse ( 2 Chinese characters) the character on the right tells you where it was minted, which in this case is the most common mint, the Treasury mint.) A nice coin to find, and one a hundred and fifty years old. And it is in good condition. Good hunting.

Wow. Some nice replies above. Good work guys. Those coins turn up from time to time. I found one in the 1980's detecting my neighbors yard when I was a teenager. Thought it was a washer at the time because of the hole. Nice find.
