Chinese Shreds & Other Relics

Well it's been a long spring but now the snow is gone and today for fathers day my son & I went to the old ghost town of Stanley, BC.. Seen a nice cinnamon colored black bear along with three other black bears, a cow moose and two deer. Jarret had a banner day for relics found. He found some Chinese shreds (late 1800's), a axe head for splitting (probably late 1800's) and a match box made in the 1870's by Bell & Blacks...All finds were in the 4 to 5 inch depth. We were in a gully and I believe this is where their garbage pit may have been.... I found nothing of any thing but could not have had a better fathers day....

Them there be 'shards' or 'sherds'- not really 'shreds'... AND... WELCOME!!! You might want to post those particular finds on another forum here at Tnet- like 'relics' (is there still a forum for those?), or 'today's finds'. This is more focused on Native American artifacts. But still- you've got some really cool stuff there! HH! Yakker p.s.- if you're hunting a cemetery, that might not be the best thing to do... just sayin'... Stay cool, pal!

No we are Not hunting a cemetery, those pics were to show some of the history of the ghost town in our area and a great history it is. ( I suppose I should have taken into account some may take the pictures the wrong way) If you had taken the time to look first at the pictures of the finds you will see we are on a hill side and gulley...Wasn't sure what thread to post this in.............

Well Cariboo...first time I've seen you here. Sounds like you did have a super Fathers day, thanks for sharing it with us...great pictures, story/history & finds. Bears, Moose & deer eh? Guess I should go check to see if you posted any pictures of them.

The one of the Bear is in the Daily Snap shot thread And thanks for the.......for your words and support for me showing a little bit of the Gold Rush history here. Where we detect is in steeper draws & gullies that are a far distance away from any thing there which really gives us an advantage as we seem to be the only fools that will hike in the extra distance, however this has also given us some unique and great local history finds...Wouldn't trade it for the world.....

B.C. is awesome, for those of us who haven't been there...think of California, Nevada and Arizona as one state with the population of Kentucky...and half of them live in one metropolitan area. The call Indians "First Nations" up there and the archeology is pretty raw and not too well documented. But the diversity of the present day tribes is very intact.
