Thanks! I just got in a minute ago from the Baton Rouge area. This storm is gonna be a big one for sure. It should make Katrina look like a baby if things go as they appear to be. My wife was dispatched with a medical and communication team 2 days ago to New Orleans. She got to call early this morning to tell me they have been released to get out of south Louisiana. They have a comm trailer and all kinds of equipment they have to get out now. They're tired and beat and haven't got to sleep any so they are ready to get back up here to the north end of the state. Most of south Louisiana has been moved north and those idiots who said they weren't going have been told that after 3pm today, they are own their own. No food,water,services or anything. If they need help, they are completely out of luck because they have been warned. No more repeat of Katrina happenings like before. Looters will immediatly be arrested and sent straight to Angola State Prison with the general population. Its about time!!!

I hope RR has left because she's in the wrong place for this storm..

They've already predicted major flooding and water going over the TOPS of some levees because of the storm surge. At that point the levee will breech itself and then its all over but the crying!

Anyway, thats all the bad news....I medal detected this weekend down there and found an 1852 penny which made the whole triip worth while. I'll post it later...

Keep the people in south Louisiana in your prayers because they're going too need it.

Steve Rat or anyone there reading this in the storms path, I am part of the Florida Disaster Relief Team. Today I was briefed that we will be staging in Pensacola Tuesday inbound to there late Tuesday or early Wednesday. You all need anything let me know, I will do my best to get it to you. I spent today after church getting my stuff ready, chainsaws, skidsteer, etc . I and others are praying for you. THe best thing to do is get out and come back after. I assure anyone there will be plenty of good folks to help you put it back together.

those of you on the texas border also need to keep your eyeballs on him, I never trust any of them till they are gone. Once in Hawaii they predicted a hurricane to come right at where I was. 60 miles out from hitting me head on, it suddenly did a unpredicted move of turning 90 degrees left and slammed into Kaui. Tore the island up as noone had prepared at all for it to come there.

I appreciate your response. My wife just called a minute ago and said she would be home in 30 minutes. They've worked 36 hours straight and are beat. They'll have to go back as soon as its clear enough to get in. Thankfully there is a lot of agencies, rescue personnel, medics and all those whose job is thankless that will always be there in times like these. I had to work 2 hurricanes in Florida about 4 or 5 years ago and I was impressed with all those who give their time, their money and their hearts in situations like this. Americans are known for their generosity, it makes you feel good about people in spite of the crazy times we live in. Take care of yourself and if there is anything we can do to help you from here, don't be afraid to ask. Prayers are with you also!

K my brother, you all have prayers too. Actually I will have it pretty good, shower, washer, 3 squares, and electrical power. I'll either sleep in my tent or my truck's back seat. Best part is I will have a tanker (diesel) with me too so I have lots of gas. (no wise cracks anyone lol)

Once we all get together we draw numbers to decide where we head and parts of teams as far as an area. 3 folks draw staging area to have things ready to roll to the teams. It's actually pretty neat how it flows and your team will be folks from all over your state so you make so new friends too.

Checking in...had a great chat with Cyndi. Told her I'm going to check in as soon as I change my avatar to the "wet water" rat.

We will leave here in the morn to go to uncle's house who is on higher ground, but does not have tall pines in his yard like I do. That is our main concern being on the east side of this storm (bad side) is southeast wind blowing trees on top of my house. Being on a dead end road, we will be taking the chain saw, to cut our way back home, to make preparations for high water. Pray we don't have it that bad.

I know the power will be gone, so will cable/internet, lived through 18 days without power with Katrina, it was almost a month before cable/internet was restored. So, when things are half way back normal around here, I will venture out to find a computer at a library to check in

Those who have my number feel free to call me. BEF, you if happen along into my neck of the woods give me a holler.

I pray that Ricky P and Cheesecake Hunk are safe...they will have it worst than me. Juan, I will keep Kathy in my prayers...NOLA can be down right bad. I had my share of hurricane duty during other hurricanes with the military.
