I found this today while on a fire line in Stanly county NC right next to the Yadkin river. It was on the same 100 ft were I have found 5 points. It looks to be worked and resembles another artifact I posted earlier. It might just be a rock.

I think probable a large preform but possible as you suggested.

It definitely looks worked to me.
It's rayholite as well.
I think a perform is likely but that wouldn't have stopped it from seeing some use as it was I don't think.
It reminds me of this one my friend from N.C. found a couple weeks ago.

i think it is a preform or possibly an expediant chopper tool
one thing for sure it has been percussion flaked into its present shape
i'da kept it

Thanks for the help. The whole fire line had flint flakes all over it. I think if I would have been the first one on it, I would have found more. I found a couple stacks of flint.

You should head back after a good rain.
Did you trench the line?

It had just rained a few inches. I only had about thirty minutes to walk it but I am sure I missed something. It was a bladed fire line. The line parallels a 6 to 8 foot wide creek. I have never looked in a creek before but this might be a good one to start with.

Here are the others I found on the same 100 ft of fire line. I posted these earlier so you may have seen them before.

I bet that creek may hold some if not where you are find the other stuff looks like a good place to dig if you have permission.

You have stumbled upon a hand chopper. I have several of these and love finding them. They all have a smooth spot that fits the hand like a glove. Check these out.

I didn't really knock the cat winding with this tool, it's trick photography.

Thanks all for the help and info.
