Chrome-plated Half?

Hi all - found what appears to be a chrome-plated 1973 half - its got a flat, sort of matte- finish, not shiny at all. Sure looked like silver when I was checking edges :P

Is there any reason to save this? Is it worth anything more than face to anyone?

Is there anyway it could just be painted, by some smart azz wiseguy trying to be funny? I found one a while back, got a titch excited, but then saw it was a 1998 d.

I suppose but it looks very uniform - as if it was intended to be that way - Ill see if I can post a pic of it
