Went to a new permission to today for about and hour just to see whats going on there...Its a bed and breakfast. .11acres..The inn was built in 1760s..2nd family since it was built. ..Anyway was just roaming around this field and I got this hit that said it was 6inch down. ..Dug down and it was more like 10...New it was going to be big... this is what I saw.
I could not believe it....I was over the moon
So I slowed down and about 50 feet from there I found this...thought it was the other half but I was wrong...Its the eagle. ..Now I dont know why these would be there...If they are civil war. .I know there was training camps in the area...
Any help with I'd would be great....
I do know there was fighting going on in the revolutionary war...BUT I DONT THINK SO.....Thanks in advance. ..
George. .

I'm no expert but it looks pre civil war to me. I'll let the experts determine that. Either way its an amazing find and something I've never seen before.

Rare finds vino! The sash buckle portion with the eagle is a seldom found US 1833 NCO "Non-commissioned -Officer" buckle. The sash buckle with the crossed cannons is a portion of another for the artillery! They must have been worn together?

George... It sounds like they may be authentic from DigIron2's post! I had no clue. By the way, NCO means Non-Commissioned Officer or in other words a Sergeant.

Ohhh ok thanks frank

That is a Waist Belt Plate, 1832 Pattern, Artillery Enlisted, 1832-1839. See page 165 of Michael O'Donnell's "American Military Belt Plates". These two pieces go together, they are not from separate buckles.

That is one heck of a find!!

You are unbelievable. That is amazing.

Looks like a BANNER find to me. It's tough enough to find a complete half buckle, but both pieces in fantastic condition, wow. You've got my vote.

Absolutely amazing finds! :notworthy: You are really tearing it up lately. Keep the great finds coming Vino.
