Went to a new permission to today for about and hour just to see whats going on there...Its a bed and breakfast. .11acres..The inn was built in 1760s..2nd family since it was built. ..Anyway was just roaming around this field and I got this hit that said it was 6inch down. ..Dug down and it was more like 10...New it was going to be big... this is what I saw.
I could not believe it....I was over the moon
So I slowed down and about 50 feet from there I found this...thought it was the other half but I was wrong...Its the eagle. ..Now I dont know why these would be there...If they are civil war. .I know there was training camps in the area...
Any help with I'd would be great....
I do know there was fighting going on in the revolutionary war...BUT I DONT THINK SO.....Thanks in advance. ..
George. .

Congratulations Vino, your find is absolutely beautiful. I will vote "Banner." Happy Hunting, Sub 8-)

Yes I am going to have to give this a Banner nod. Here is the picture from the book I mentioned in my earlier post.

Looks like a BANNER find to me. It's tough enough to find a complete half buckle, but both pieces in fantastic condition, wow. You've got my vote.

Thanks oxbowbarefoot. .

Michael O'Donnell's "American Military Belt Plates". It's the kind of book that you go through the pages and droll over things you will never find :laughing7:

Banner vote in, congrats george, u deserve it!

An Awesome historical find , congrats ..cheers Mick

Vino huge congrats on an incredible recovery. I'm happy for you that you found these on a solo hunt. You may have been just a bit sick to your stomach if a guest had dug those. I know you love seeing others make great finds as I do but there are a rare few exceptions and these fall into that category. One of the easiest Banners I have seen. Great job my friend!

Just put my banner vote in, now this is the third time, first time was when you found all those LC's around "the giving tree" I looked around that tree and found a Indian. Second time was that 1802/0 half cent that was sold for 4200.00. Now this. If this doesn't go banner then its fixed!

Go back and look at his latest started threads, Around Oct 24th

Wow.... now that is a BANNER find (got my vote). Think it is safe say the combo is a relic hunters dream. Sounds lame to even say "CONGRATS". Gotta throw in another WOW though.
