Civil war button

Can anyone tell me exactly what kind of button this ...it's the size of an m&m (one of my favorite forms of chocolate)

Could we please see a picture of the back? And, can you make out any letters on the back? One more thing, put an M&M, coin or some other size reference in the picture.

The raised shield leads me to believe it is post CW and is Indian Wars era. The bm would substantiate.

I can't make out anything on the back . lucky to see the button getting old sucks.

Tin back that has rusted out. Most tin backs were post CW and the front design corresponds so that would be Indian Wars era.
